About the Achtung Panzer! Tournament
The aim of this tournament is to provide you with a set of battles in WW2 where you will use only fully tracked armoured fighting vehicles. Yes, that's correct - no infantry, no fortifications, no aircraft, no AT guns....none of that.
Just a pure clash of tanks.
The battles will begin in 1938 and move through time ending in 1946. As commanders, you will have a choice of nations, but will have to think carefully about who to choose as you will only be allowed to use any given nation once. For more info on this, and the various limitations to your purchases, please read the rules section.
We, the designers, hope that this format will encourage you to use units, and fight in periods, that you usually do not. This way you will experience even more fully this great game of Steel Panthers that we all play.
In 1938, even though tanks had been around in various forms since WWI, armoured doctrine, and indeed tank design, was still in its formative stages. There were still plenty of cavalry officers who disdained the use of motorised cavalry and wished for the old days. However, those days were already gone. In a mere 6 years, those attitudes had been completely erased and a new era was truely born.
The idea of Blitzkreig incorporated many different skills and units. Air reconnisiance, radio communication, many new types of specialist vehicles, self propelled anti-tank, anti-aircraft and artillery units, motorised and mechanised infantry and of course....tanks, in all their glorious shape and sizes. We have decided to offer you a distilled form of this type of warefare, more pure and hopefully a great deal of fun to play.
Whether you are a fan of the obvious classic, the mighty Tigers and Panthers of the Wehrmacht and T-34s and KVs from Russia, or perhaps a connisseur of the more rare or early MBTs, Chars and BTs, we hope you wil enjoy picking through the OOBs and deploying units that may become firm favorites in future battles. The battle and maps have been designed so there is room to manoeuvre and plenty of scope for you to try your favorite tank tactic...or perhaps develop some new ones.

Your opponents will be assigned and maps sent out to the commander who will begin the fight. Take careful notice of the rules please commanders. Failure to adhere to them will result in penalties. All disputes will be dealt with by your friendly Tournament Moderators and their word is final. Choose your nations and units wisely, think about the job in hand, plan your tactics and venture forth into the world of armoured combat.
